ICPanda is Integrating DEEPSEEK with the ICP Blockchain

DeepSeek challenges as the market increases its concern over the potential loss of the U.S. dominance in the AI world due to the rapid growth of China, but ICP stands uniquely positioned for growth and innovation.

Not only is ICPanda actively working to integrate DeepSeek AI onto the ICP blockchain, but ICP is also developing its own groundbreaking technology through Caffeine AI.

You may be wondering: What exactly is DeepSeek? And what role does ICPanda play in this framework?

First, let’s discuss how DeepSeek managed to disrupt the U.S. market and cause chaos and turbulence in the AI space. Remember when AI development was considered the exclusive domain of tech giants with bottomless budgets? Well, DeepSeek, a Chinese AI research lab, didn’t subscribe to that narrative. On January 20, 2025, they introduced DeepSeek-R1, and it’s been shaking up the industry ever since.

DeepSeek-R1 is an open-source AI model developed with a modest budget of under $6 million and powered by 10,000 NVIDIA chips, completed in less than two months. Released in January 2025, this model stands in stark contrast to proprietary models like those developed by OpenAI, which reportedly had budgets exceeding $5 billion.  

Despite relying on less advanced hardware, DeepSeek-R1 has made its mark, ranking among the top 10 AI models for its ability to excel in solving complex tasks. By going open source and demonstrating world-class performance on a shoestring budget, DeepSeek has not only challenged the status quo but also sparked a new era of innovation in AI development.

In logical reasoning benchmarks, DeepSeek-R1 achieved an impressive 92% accuracy rate, surpassing GPT-4’s 78%, despite utilizing fewer high-end chips, such as NVIDIA’s H800.

Now, let’s focus on the role of AI agents deployed on the ICP Blockchain and the significance of ICPanda. ICPanda is the first AI agent framework built on DeepSeek, running on the only blockchain capable of hosting AI completely on-chain—ICP.

ICPanda plays a crucial role in the DeepSeek ecosystem as it is listed as an AI Agent framework by DeepSeek. The ANDA framework, developed by ICPanda, is a Rust-based framework for AI agent development, designed to build a highly composable, autonomous, and perpetually memorizing network of AI agents. Remarkably, ANDA was built in just two weeks using Rust.

Powered by the ICP blockchain and Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) computing, ANDA offers the safest on-chain identity and off-chain encryption capabilities. The framework functions similarly to cloud GPU services, providing intelligent computing power that is also replaceable. Currently, the ANDA framework supports DeepSeek, Cohere, and OpenAI models, with plans to incorporate additional LLM services, including open-source LLMs running on TEE GPUs in the future.

The ICP blockchain plays a vital role in supporting ANDA by offering decentralized identity verification, root key and data storage, as well as a token economy system and DAO governance mechanism.

State Storage: Since TEE operates in a stateless computing environment, ANDA’s operational state is stored on the ICP blockchain, ensuring recovery in case of program crashes, TEE reboots, or transitions between different TEEs.

Identity Verification: As each upgrade to ANDA modifies the TEE Attestation fingerprint, the ICP blockchain provides a permanent on-chain identity for ANDA, facilitating trusted interactions with external systems.
